Cyto: Review

Meditative puzzles on mobile phones no longer evoke sacred awe in a person who has spared a dollar or two for a purchase in the appropriate “market”. This soothing music, these pastel colors, these incomprehensible substances that obey the touch of our fingers… Really, such a meager set today will not surprise anyone. But there is also a category of developers whose representatives believe that it is their game that will break the sales charts, at the same time breaking the brains of sophisticated aesthetes and snobs. Ukrainians from Room 8 along with their debut Cyto – the same case.

Soap bubble world

The game is relaxing, no doubt. https://megaways-casino.uk/mobile-app/ A small ball named Cyto (the developers insist that this is exactly what it sounds like in the transcribed version), creeping from sphere to sphere, maneuvering in air currents and stretching its jelly-like body to an incredible length, tries to entertain us and seem extremely cute. Outwardly very similar to a drop of paraffin from a lava lamp, Cyto crawls around the screen, being under the strict guidance of the player. The kid says something about the lost pieces of his memory, which we will have to restore.

The whole gameplay comes down to the following. The little jelly jumps from sphere to sphere, clings to their contact places, so to speak, slides, stretches and collects “memories” in the form of tiny clouds. Actually, that’s all. Certainly, Room 8 came up with a lot of tests for us on dexterity and knowledge of the elementary laws of physics. True, any player who has seen Cut the Rope and, excuse me, Angry Birds, communication with Cyto will not cause delight. Tricks with liquids, gels and flirting with physics – we’ve seen it all. Slightly in a different form, but seen. When a clear understanding of a given circumstance arises in your head, all the magic Cyto miraculously disappears.

The last convincing argument in favor of judging the absolute “non-genius” of the game is the behavior of the developers (or, more precisely, the PR department) on the Internet. Try Googling the name. Every second link is a story from the authors about how they “went to success” and what it cost them. A sane debut is good. This is important. But what’s even more important is not to get arrogant and continue to work on yourself, releasing great games in the future.

Don’t get caught by the red spikes, skillfully use streams of particles, collect memories – it seems nothing complicated.

Let’s not thicken the colors. Cyto – not a bad game by any means. This is a good puzzle game with nice graphics, soothing music and a main character who can sweetly yawn in public. Just don’t expect fresh ideas, innovative gameplay and brilliantly assembled levels from this little thing. This will all happen another time. Maybe.

Pros: music; cute jelly-like creature starring.
Cons: the feeling that persists throughout the game that somewhere this has already happened.
