Dante’s Inferno: Preview

Perhaps everyone who has read the work Alighieri immediately after the phrase “based on the book…” we remembered the mediocre Rise of the Argonauts. In the latter, we recall, the characters of ancient Greek myths were recut and sewn with rough white threads, and the storyline turned out to be seriously truncated and turned inside out. The same goes for Dante’s Inferno: story Alighieri turned from a tragic story about how the main character Dante (now the protagonist Devil May Cry the namesake appeared) went through the nine circles of hell, into a brutal story with a mighty warrior in the role of Dante. It is assumed that certain types of creatures will have their own rider, after dealing with whom we will be able to sit on the back of the monster and control it with impunity. With the right level of entertainment, rides on such exotic transport can become a very significant weight on the “positive” side of the scales.

Of course, the obligatory element of every self-respecting slasher film – character leveling – won’t go anywhere. It will be quite a classic: we will have to collect the souls that fall from the scythe-affected evil spirits and spend them on improving our skills. True, collecting precious currency is a little reminiscent of BioShock: as in the best shooter of 2007, we ourselves must choose whether to destroy the soul of a sinner or save it. In the first case, we will have a smaller number of points, which we do not risk losing; in the second, we will receive additional funds for leveling up, but only if we succeed in a special mini-game; if we fail, we will be left with nothing. That’s all the gameplay elements: still, whatever one may say, Dante’s Inferno – an ordinary slasher with promising scenery and daring gameplay.

The technical side also does not present any surprises. The Dead Space engine regularly draws guts, severed limbs and other organic joys. However, the developers decided to slightly reduce the quality of the picture, so that the game will not be annoying with constant slowdown even on weak machines. And the image quality is unlikely to suffer seriously: the screenshots only confirm this.

A high-quality slasher – on the PC the guest is rare and very often late from the console edges, so Dante’s Inferno for owners of personal computers it becomes even more long-awaited. This is facilitated by the unique setting of Hell – the embodiment of a wonderful book Dante Alighieri – decent graphics and a spectacular bloody mess without censorship, which is a great value in our time.
